I’m a graphic designer, or graphic artist, whichever you prefer. Over the years, I’ve come to really love what I do for a living, which, is a little unusal in this day and age. Design has become not only a way to make a living, but a way for me to have fun outside of work.
I believe graphic design is an incredibly important part of the media and marketing world. Through design, communication is performed visually. How the layout is arranged, what words are emphasized, which images are used, all create an emotional reaction. Design is serious stuff, and unless you have the proper tools to create, the message is either lost or completely misunderstood. That is why I passionately believe in strong, clean, dynamic design; at the same time, I’m very willing to take risks and approach projects in new and different ways. Also, I throughouly enjoy working in a somewhat non-traditional, fun and eclectic environment, with people who love what they do and are thrilled that they are doing it.For me, design is a pleasure.
Design is about freedom, risk taking, creativity, and dedication. Most of all, it’s about having fun.
If you’re a fledgling designer, or a designer looking for work, I whole-heartedly recommend staying away from companies that insist you “pay your dues” and gravitate toward places that welcome ideas and new thinking, and aren’t afraid to let you take the reigns.
